COMPETITION EVENT GUIDELINES

This Event is registered with DanceSport Australia and will be conducted under its Rules.

NOTE THAT EVENTS MAY BE COMBINED OR CANCELLED IF THERE ARE INSUFFICIENT ENTRIES.

 

Under 16 Division

 

  • Solo Events are single person events (i.e. no partner).

  • All choreography is restricted syllabus in all three styles  as per DanceSport Australia rules.

  • Dress restrictions apply as per DanceSport Australia rules.

  • Competitors in the Best Boy/Girl events cannot be partnered by a Teacher, Coach or Professional.

 

Amateur Division

 

  • Masters 1 may dance in the Adult Open events.

  • Masters 2 may dance in Masters 1.

  • Masters 3 may dance in Masters 2.

  • Open Events may be danced by A/B/C Grade couples.

 

Recreational Division

 

  • Open only to Recreational competitors registered with DanceSport Australia.

  • All choreography is restricted syllabus in all three styles  as per DanceSport Australia rules.

  • Dress restrictions apply as per DanceSport Australia rules.

 

Professional & Amateur

 

  • Any registered Professional competitor with any registered Amateur.

  • Both the Professional and the Student will be judged together as a couple.

 

Professional & Student

 

  • Any registered Professional competitor with any registered Amateur or Recreational competitor.

 

Coach & Student

 

  • Any registered Coach with any registered Amateur or Recreational competitor.

 

General

 

  • All dancers wishing to compete as a 'Coach' must hold at least an Assistant DanceSport Instructor accreditation in any of the three styles.

  • All Recreational and Coach/Student events will be run at Competition Status.

  • Under 21 may dance Adult OPEN events but not Adult Graded events.

  • Para Dance, Special Dance/All Ability and Vision Impaired events are for individuals who may experience any difficulties such as physical, emotional, behavioral or learning disability or impairment that causes a person to require additional or specialised service or accommodations​​.

  • Note that in Special Dance/All Ability events competitors may only enter either Beginner or Intermediate events in each style but not both.
